Final Reveal

These are my last two pages out of the five I made from the Cést Magnifique Kit, I went completely mad with the shimmerz on this one and painted the background with it its a shame you can't see how sparkly it all is.

This is a photo of my Sister inlaw, my nephew and niece at what looks like an fun day at the park judging by the face painting also taken quite a few years ago but I thought it went perfectly with this range of  papers.

This page is definitely going to have to go into a shadow box as the flower is way to big, I have also given this a treatment of gesso and shimmerz, again  so much prettier and sparklier in real life. I have dyed the lace from the kit with the shimmerz and the banner was made from the packaging, I stamped with a banner stamp and embossed with white powder. Other flowers have been hand made using my sizzix 3D flower die.

Swirls have been cut from the paper using one of my sizzlets die and I have used gesso and shimmerz to give them some texture.

This photo was taken on one of our Sunday outings down at the Gold Coast, It's nice just to take a stroll out on the jetty and watch the world go by.

On this one I have decorative machine stitched around the edges and on the mats behind the photo.  I used my nestabilities doily die and cut the doily pattern out from the patterned paper.  The border underneath was created by ripping the pattern from one of the papers, punched with the circle punch then layered back up.  Flowers were again created using my dies and I have used shimmerz from the kit to paint my letters.

Color Combos Galore - Palette 227

Again, couldn't resist playing along over at CCG, loved the combo that Janet put together, so soft and pretty. Although I have to admit when playing along at a colour site I think I spend more time searching for the perfectly matched colour that thankfully I make up when I do the layout. Otherwise I'd be lucky if I get a page a week completed. Which is fortunate that Janet has now changed the site giving you 2 weeks for a page and then another 2 weeks to complete a card.

The three soft colours were a bit of struggle to capture on camera, fortunately it was raining today so no direct sunlight to bounce the light of the lighter colours, there was just enough sun behind the cloud to get a half decent shot. I decided to use the "Lavender" and "Gray" as my focal colours and used them in both the light and darker shades of the colours.

The background paper is a really old design I'm talking at least 6 yrs old from the Nostalgiques "The Attic Collection" by Rebecca Sower she was so way before her time. The thing I love about this paper is that there is no mess from gesso or texture paste and yet it looks like it has all those products on it.Well I got a little mess I still stippled some of the lavender shades on the background.

I have distressed both photos and the edges of the background paper, machine and hand stitched on my page.
As for the designers challenge I have used mesh quite a few times on my pages but decided to look for a different type of element and I thought the mesh in the bassinet fitted the challenge perfectly.

I added some little punched hearts around the page, then thought wouldn't it be great to have a little heart stamp when I remembered that I have a Quickutz stamp kit. So I made my own from the punch and stamped then randomly on the page.

Products used: Kaiser "Madame Boutique" "Timeless" , Basic Grey "Whats Up", Dusty Attic Blooms & Chipboard, LYB Backyard Trim PP, Cosmo Cricket Carton Girls Chipboard Stickers, K & CO Alphas, Jo Sonja Paints, QK Circles dies, Nestabilities dies, Martha Stewart Heart Confetti punch, Superfine glitter, Buttons handmade from Ivana Camdzic, Prima flowers.

Well I hope everyone is having a great day and its not wet and miserable like it is here, if you have some time why not pop on over to CCG and check out the beautiful creations from the Design Team.

Color Combos Galore 226 & CPS Card Sketches

Thought I would create a card for Color Combos Galore with some of the scraps from the page I had made for the last challenge and for CPS - Card Sketch.

I drew inspiration from the monogram  for this I used the Dusty Attic letters for the word YOU and my inspiration was the puffy flower in the background, this inspired me to use the die cut to mimic the the check in the print.

Don't forget to pop over to CCG and check and the gorgeous new colours that Janet has put together and the beautiful pages the Design Team have created. Well I am off have a bit of running around do today, the weather is beautiful and sunny perfect outdoor weather, enjoy your weekend everyone!!!

Reveal Time

The middle of the month really does start to get exciting,  for those that love kits you get to see all the wonderful goodies that Leslie has put together in the Cést Magnifique kits and for us the Design Team members we get to share what we created with all those gorgeous pieces.

I can tell you its a little nerve racking and exciting rolled into one.  Nerve raking in the sense, what happens if you mess a bit of paper up that you don't have a replacement for {rolling eyes]  and exciting having the opportunity to create with these kits.  So I will stop chatting so you can check out one of my pages that I have created so far.

This month we worked with 7 Dots Studio "Wonderland" paper range.  I have admired these papers for a while and was excited to finally get my hands on them.  I love the rustic vibrancy feel of these paper and thought it was perfect with this photo of my Grandma and her sister.

For the strips through the centre I used Follow The Rabbit paper, this was torn into strips, punched with Martha Stewards bubble border punch.  Royal Garden was used for the photo mat that I first ran through my Grand Calibur using my Grand Dies.  From the Queen of hearts paper i have cut out the beautiful doily patterned.  This was then all placed on the paper Alice...don't you just love these papers names...so cute.

Other than the Prima flowers from the kit I used my sizzix rolled flower die using the off cuts to make all the other flowers.  The swirl is cut from paper as well, I gave it a couple of coats of textured paste finishing of with the shimmerz from the kit giving it some dimension, I also coloured the chipboard alphas with the shimmerz.  I had never used shimmerz before and I am loving it, this colour was perfect with the papers.

The little white leaves you see poking out are from the applique that was also included in the kit.  And I dyed the white lace with the shimmerz.

The Challenge + One

Well I have finally finished my White + One layout for over at Colorful Creations, I have been working on it since the challenge was first posted but have had to put it on the back burner a couple of times to finish of other projects.  Which is the great thing over at CC, you have a month to get it done so it allows you time to participate if you have other more pressing deadlines.  So here was this months requirements.

Create a layout using the following criteria (white plus kraft paper).  What this means is you are to create a layout using only TWO colors and one of those colors MUST be WHITE the other color is KRAFT paper.

I really love these sorts of  challenges, it gets you delving through your stash, and its amazing the little pieces of this and that you find.  I generally put it all aside so that is close at hand when I start creating.

I started with  my base Kraft sheet and randomly stamped with white stazon then embossed.  Glue down some doily and then added some stitching.  Oh and some paint splattering!!!

Unfortunately you cannot see the detail on the little mask, which I just had to add to my page as a bit of a fun piece.  I used a prima mask with textured paste to give it some detail, once that dried I spritzed with Maya silver mist and added kindy glitz, so much better to see this in real life.

Other Products used: Prima flowers, Dusty Attic Mask, Stickers are Basic Grey and Fancy Pants, Melissa Francis Resin charms, Sassafras Papers, Prima Build a Stamp, MM Patterned Paper, Hambly Transparencies, Twine, Word Stamps.  And if you have a fabric stash of bridal lace check that out for pieces you can cut off, I have a huge stash of fabric and it was only recently brought to my attention some of the details lace work that can be cut up and utilised on your layouts.

Well thanks for looking and why not pop on over to Colorful Creations and grow with us.

Again thank you to those who have stopped by and left your lovely comments they really are appreciated.

Have a great week!!!

Monthly Challenge - Vintage Tag

Colorful Creations have a monthly tag challenge, this month being a Vintage Tag.  I've  never really made tags mostly because I am unsure of what to do with them once I have.  So I have a question, what would you do with them???  Would love to hear your thoughts or ideas if you have some.

I used a little bit of everything on this one.

I splattered the tag with some white paint, rubbed on some old rubon laying around on my desk, stamped with my new Hero Arts Cling stamp "Watch Gears" then sprinkled glitter on it. Layered some butterflies that I had punched out ages ago but hadn't used yet. Added some Dusty Attic and if you didn't know it yet they are also doing their own flowers and leaves. The flower up the top is handmade and I finished the top of the tag with some tulle.

Overall I was pretty happy with the result, now just what to do with it...hmmm

Maybe I could make a series of them in the same colour and frame them when I have finished.

Thanks for looking and I hope you are all having a great weekend.  The weather here wasn't to bad, had a friend who was lovey enough to offered to take family photos so we spend a couple of hours doing that today.   We apparently filled a whole card and she said she got some good ones...lol  Can't wait to see them.

Bye for now

Color Combos Galore & ABC's Monthly Challenge

I'm a little late on the ABC's Monthly Challenge over at Colorful Creations,we had to use the letter E and scrap about ourselves.  I have used E in the word Entertaining and the picture is of me when I was a kid, I was forever amusing myself in the backyard, dragging out blankets and covering the clothes airier so that it was like a cubby.  Not much room under there but I would squeeze myself in and try get the dogs in as well, no video games for me!!!

I did a 9" page, I don't know why I don't do more this size so much quicker than the 12" ones I think I could churn out a couple of these a day, and with that in mind I am going to do my ABC album in this size, wish I had thought of this earlier.  The colours over at Color Combos Galore really caught my eye and I took the opportunity to combine the colours with the challenge.

Out of all the colours in this Palette the Framed French Blue was a little tricky, this was my 2nd attempt ast the colours, the first when photographed turned the green  into more of a blue tone.  Back to the drawing board and ended up pulling some of the prints from a K & Company specialty paper pack "Madeline"range.

I have a hidden tag behind the photo with my journaling.

I used the Serene Green in the rolled flowers and my title.

Framed French Blue as I said was the real tricky colour and you can see the butterflies have photographed more of a blue, I decided to leave as I had already glue down.

Products Used:  Dusty Attic - Swirl painted with Li'l Davis Cherry Shades, Patterned Paper - K & Co, MME and Pink Paislee, Stickers - October Afternoon, 5 & Dime, Websters Alphabets, Kaiser Transparent Frame, SEI Stickers Penelope, Blooms - Prima, Kaiswer and Sizzix Die cut, Nestablities Dies - G Circle and G Scalloped Oval.

If you have time come and play along over at CCG, Cést Magnifique is sponsoring with a prize.

Thanks for looking and for your lovely comments that you have been leaving.

Sneek Peeks

Some days if feels like I am posting every other day and then it seems to come to a lull.  I have been extremely busy and thought I would share a little of what I have been up to.

Firstly I have been scrapping madly with the Kit from Cést Magnifique, I loved this kit at first site when Leslie showed us in the DT Forum, however I was a little worried that I might not be able to get my style out of it.  However 5 layouts later I am more than happy at how they have turned out.  Sorry can't show them yet but keep an eye out for when I do.

Secondly I have also been busy catching up with my friend who visited for a few days, I don't mind visitors at any time but I like it even more when they are as dedicated to scrapbooking as me.  This way we can both hang out in my scrap room, just my poor husband then gets neglected instead.  Oh well it was only for a couple of days and he really doesn't mind.

Thirdly I am in the process of trying to work out the details for my DD 18th Birthday, her Grandparents will be traveling from Perth its just a shame more of our family cannot come across.  And if we go ahead an have a party there is going to be drinking so we need to think of accommodation.  I'm all for bringing a tent and set up your own camp site, but even that may be a struggle considering we live so high up on a hill.   If the weather was warmer it wouldn't be a problem but it has already turned cool here so I am thinking they may need something more than a blanket.   Then their is the cake, trying to find some where that is going to make something amazing, where is Cake Boss when you need him.  I've always wanted to know what Red Velvet Cake taste like so I made a sample today, and can honestly say I am still none the wiser to what I think about it.  Thinking I will have to give this one some more thought but at the same time I had better get it sorted.

And last but not least my Sneek Peek for the Challenge over at Colorful Creations, this will go up on the 15th USA time so come on over and take a look, in the mean time there is still loads of Challenges you can take up including our monthly ABC's of me Album.

For those that made it all the way through, thanks for reading my ramblings, and those that didn't well that's okay as well.

Bye for now Fi

Once Upon A Sketch - April Challenge

One of my first Challenges on the Team of Cést Magnifique was to use this Sketch created by Nadia.  I used everything from the kit and this is what I came up with.

I titled my page Home and my journaling reads:  As you embark on this new phase of your life always remember your safe haven will be home.

I used Co-ordination black cardstock for my base and the section through the middle which I masked,  then cut in between the mask and rolled them up towards the photo to reveal the pattern underneath.  The photo ha a digital frame.  I fussy cut the fence pattern out of the paper and then wound the stems of the tiny flowers around them.  Dusty Attic chipboard was used I have painted and course glittered this.

I have really enjoyed working with this kit, it was so easy to work with, if you haven't heard me say already you must really check out these kits, they are gorgeous and I already have the next one in my hot little hands and you will not be disappointed in that either.

Thanks for dropping by and to those who have also been taking the time to leave me some lovely comments, they are most appreciated.

Bye for now Fi

April Reveal

April Kit reveal is finally here.  Jam packed with so many goodies you will be wanting to rip into and start creating.  If you go on over  to the  DT Gallery you will see a treasure trove of gorgeous inspirational layouts and other projects.  I have linked the gallery to the kit image.

This picture was taken by my mum whilst she was looking after my DD for the very first time. I stumbled across it in her album, scanned it and played around with some digital frames. I had printed this a couple of years ago and thought it went perfectly with the colours in the kit.

I love fussy cutting so cutting the trellis was just obvious for me and then raising it onto my page.  Also used the M Steward heart punch and created the layered heart.  The little bit of framing on the left hand side is actually the negative from the swirl in the kit, I used gesso and mist to colour it.  See nothing needs to be thrown away.

So as not to waste anything left overs a great to make cards, I used the Tim Holtz distress doily die cut and the banners are from my nestabilities die stash. The only frustration here was running the banner back through the die cut and then to emboss it.  But I love how it turned out.

Whilst we are still discussing scraps here is another page that I made out of my four pages I made in total.  Completey created from left overs.  I decided to go with the icy blue colour as it just looked beautiful against the white.  I have used an old stamp from one of my Autumn leaves ranges, stitched around the circle and used the Tim Holtz banner die, which I love.  I slightly misted the lace and popped and used another digital frame on my photo.  I also love the idea of using the cutout from our punches who thought that this technique would do the rounds.  I remember doing this way back in early 2003 and we only used it because their was no other products around to buy.....lol  its great to see these oldies become fashionable again.

This picture was taken of my DD whilst we were holiday at Easter with friends, their little girl is always climbing up on my DD wanting horse rides or just to be carried around.  I just love how much fun they have in each other company.

All supplies are from the April kit excluding paints, stamps and digital frames. Thanks for looking and I hope you get the opportunity to look on the Cést Magnifique site.
