Happy Friday Everyone

I just love Friday's, its like the week has finally come to an end and you can just kick back and relax.  Although I'm not really sure that ever happens but one can try.

I will try and make this post short and sweet, I just wanted to share with you my layout I did for over at Colorful Creations "So You Think You Can Scrap" Challenge we have going.

We are now going into week 12 so I'm looking forward to seeing what our next challenge will be when it goes up tomorrow.  In the meantime this was Challenge #11

Each week the challenge seems to get a little harder.  Mostly because they require more than 2 photos and I simply don't have that many and the limitations of product use can be very challenging when your used to using what ever you like.  Of course you can bend the rules or should I say exert your artistic rights, however if you don't want to be eliminated then the challenge is then to stick to the rules.

I KNOW, I KNOW, RULES IN SCRAPBOOKING!!!

Occasionally yes there are and for some and this is one challenge site that does stand by the guidelines set, which then challenges you to step out of your comfort zone and maybe make you pull back a little when it comes to product use and challenge you that little more by creating something that is visually pleasing to the eye.  So maybe these pages are not all arty and loaded with product but I am enjoying the challenge and its been great to use photos that probably wouldn't have normally been used.

MUST USE EVERYTHING LISTED BELOW:

4 Photos (can be colored or b&w)  - done
Black & White ONLY - done
Quilling - little arrow heads on the string from the hot air balloon
Masking - dusty attic chipboard
Paint - black paint on the hot air balloon
Swirls - doodled using a Crafters workshop template
6 Brads - little black ones right hand side
Handwritten Journaling - done
Make your own layered 3d embellishment - stamped a hot air balloon image and layered it on top of the chippie
stay true to the sketch - done

HERE IS MY TAKE

I decided if I had to use black and white only I would try and incorporate some colour with my photos.  Bare in mind my kids were not born in the digital era so photos are not dime a dozen. I was fortunate enough to have my sister in law snap happy with her camera when we visited in 2006 so these photos worked beautifully.

I was really happy with the overall finish of this page even though its on the simpler side of scrapbooking for me.

If you would like to see what the other 20 members did for this we would love for you to pop on over to Colorful Creations and check them out.

Thank you to all that stopped by recently and left me your wonderful comments on my previous post its always a joy to know others appreciate your work.

Bye for now

Saint Patrick's Tag

Hi Everyone

Well the week is almost over and I hope like me you are all looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
A few weeks ago I had a fabulous night out at the Gold Coast with a good friend, daughter and boyfriend with a few others joining us later in the evening.  It was a fun night filled with plenty of exotic named drinks, loud music and dancing with us getting back to the room sometime after 3am.  So I think this weekend I will just have a nice quiet one at home.

I also wanted to share a Tag I created for the  "Pot of Luck Crop" over at Colorful Creations in preparation for Saint Patrick's Day.  Since its not something I personally celebrate, I realised leaving something like this to the last minute wasn't the brightest idea I've had.  My mind was drawing a blank even with all my stash.  A quick look on line I found that I could at least attempt to make some that resembled a 3 leaf shamrock using my heart punch.

According to legend, St Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish people.

Products used:
Kaiser Vintage Fence single acrylic stamp & rhinestones
VersaMark Dazzle ink
Prima pearls and bloom
Doily
Nestabilities - banner & fancy tag
Tattered Angels Mist - gold green
Heart punch
Alphabet stamps
Luminarte pigments

Thanks for looking and for your comments that you leave.

Color Combos Galore - Inspirational Board 235

Hi Everyone

Welcome to Inspirational Board 235 "Sweet Indulgence"

As you can see from these gorgeous inspirational pictures its totally about indulgences.
Who would love nothing better than to be able to step into of these pictures and simply indulge themselves!
Well since some of us cannot we have to settle with creating something instead with these gorgeous colours that Janet has put together.

Fi's Design:
Inspiration Photo #1/Focus on Texture: Dry Embossing

Other Inspiration:
Inspiration Photo #1: banner (idea: headboard) ; Inspiration Photo #3: border punch (idea: tag borders) ; ribbon (ribbon on tags) ; doily (tag border pattern)

I also used a mix of papers here as well as the cherry blossom "The Crafter Workshop" template that I used with textured paste before I coloured it with inks.

Hidden underneath the strip of washi tape and icon sticker was one of those whoops moments.
I did some stamping and it didn't work out so I had to hide it.
Thankfully mishaps can be hidden. Lol

The little rusty coloured flowers and branch were cut from an old Sassafrass paper, it was a good match for the copper in the palette.

Other Products
Papers - Kaiser Pickled Pear, Making Memories  Sienne Ledger & Prima Ledger
Prima - Resist canvas, washi tape, chipboard saying and blooms
Graphic45 - Cutout
Matha Stewart - Border bubble punch
The Crafters Workshop - Cherry blossom template
Glitz - Peek A Boo "Love You Madly"
Couture Creations - Adalyn collection butterflys and blooms
Carta Bella - So Noted stickers
Studio Calico - Chevron template
Tattered Angels - Meadow green and gold glimmer mist
Nestablilities - Spiral Blossoms
Textured paste and stazon ink

Thanks for looking and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks you always for your wonderful comments.

Blog Hop - Colorful Creations

COME AND JOIN US FOR A BLOG HOP

What would Saint Patrick's Day be without a blog hop,
well in the scrapbooking world it just wouldn't be.  lol

I wanted to share with you a page I created for "So You Think You Can Scrap #9"

This page was a little basic for my liking but when you have to use 6 photos and limited to product it was the best I could come up with.

Other requirments were:

Use the sketch and stay true to it
1 word title - Perth
2 different stamps - centre border and and around page
2 recycle products - dragonflies punched from a coke cola can and seagull die cut from packaging
1 handmade element - stamped banner and cutout
1 pin - Maya roads star
1 rubon - placement under date

Each week gets a little harder but I have enjoyed the challenge.

I am looking forward to Friday tomorrow now if only the rain would clear up and give us some sunshine.

Thanks for stopping bye and for any comments you may leave me.

Colorful Creations

Hi Everyone, happy hump day.

Thought I would do a quick share of some pages that I have completed but haven't had the chance to show on my blog yet.
Both of these are for Colorful Creations, don't know who they are?
Its just a fun site for ALL LEVELS of scrapping.
We have a diverse scrapbooking  design team and loads of challenges for the whole of the month, I'm sure you will not be dissappointed.

SYTYCS #8

We are up to week 8 for the "So You Think You Can Scrap"comp that is running.  Each week we are given a new task and as long as we follow it we won't be eliminated.  I think we started with about 50 players and now down to approximately 20 or so.  I have had a blast doing this, I find it interesting when you have to stick to guide lines and no amount of creative artistry or is it artist rights, will keep you in if you haven't followed the guide lines.

Our Challenge last week was to create our own paper, store bought patterned papers were allowed this also included making embellishments from it.  We also had to include a journalling card, punch, metal and some mixed alphas.

I created my background with stamps, textured paste, masks and glimmer mist.  It really wasn't the week to get down and get messy, nothing wanted to dry with all this rain and humidity about.  However I was happy with the end result.

This next page was created for a challenge that I host it was a combination of a recipe and colour challenge.  If you would like to read more come on over to CC and check it out.

Again a lot of textured paste, masking and glimmer misting went on with this one.  I figured I had all the supplies out I might as well keep using them.  This turned out to be quite a large recipe I think some of the members called it a feast and I cannot wait to see what they create.

Well off to create some more hope everyone is have a great week so far and I hope the sun is shining some where as its certainly not here in SUNNY Queensland.

Thank you for dropping by!
Take Care

Color Combos Galore Palette 234 - Moonlight Serenade

Hi Everyone! Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend with a side of sunshine!
I think Queensland has lost its sun, its been weeks since we have had a good does of sunshine and now Summer is official over.
Weather reports are saying we still have more to come!

At least this weeks CCG are anything but dreary!  Why not pop on over and check out what the creative team did this week, STUNNING is all I can say.

I was really drawn in by the 3rd inspirational picture and decided to create a really grungy page.  Not the best decision I made, with all the rain and humidity in the air I thought it was never going to dry.
I took this picture to show how I first started creating my page.

MY LAYOUT

The picture is of my DD legs, I was messing around with my new camera and captured this one.
She spotted the finished page and asked my why I used pictures of her fat legs.
Normally not something I would scrap,
I thought it would be a great way to represent all her new adventures she will have turning 17.

I love this Prima stamp and thought it was the perfect accent.

I have dried embossed the words LIVE, LAUGH & LOVE, then dusted it with LuminArte pigments.

PRODUCTS USED

LuminArte Sunflower, SC Huey's Masks chervron, Prima Doll stamp & Blooms,
Glimmer Mist - Gold, Route 66, Espresso Brown and Blue Patina,
PP resist canvas, MF Fairy Dust glitter, DA Flowers,
 Nestablities diecut handmade flowers,
Scenic Route chipboard, Moments stamp,
Paper used are from WeR Memories, Bo-Bunny, Fancy Pants and Crate paper.
