Be Inspired Challenge

Just a quick post to share a page I created for the Inspired Challenge over at Colorful Creations.   You still have time before the end of the month to enter any of the events for the chance to win a RAK.   And if time is of the essence why not try a smaller sized layout, they are such a time saver.

To see this event click on the image to take you to Colorful Creations.

 This is what I created.

The picture is was taken when I was about 9 on one of our family camping trips.

I messed around with the glimmer mist a bit down the bottom here and then stamped over with a Tim Holtz stamp.

I have hand stitched around the mask shape as part of the inspiration challenge.

Products Used:  Basic Grey Konnichiwa, Prima Mask & Blooms, October Afternoon stickers, Hambly Transparency, Tattered Angels Mist, Kaiser Pearls, Tim Holtz Stamps.

Thanks for looking and for any comments that you may leave.

Have a great weekend!!!

Give Thanks Crop

Well after a busy week of cutting my friend Rach and I made a total of 409 kits with at least 50 sample pages.  As I mentioned in a previous post these were made for a group of 50 plus kids that are siblings and are all in some sort of Foster Care.  Most of these kids do not see each other more than once a year and its usually when they attend this camp.

The week not only brings them together to have fun and do some really cool activities but they also celebrate their Birthdays and Christmas.  Through out this whole week photos are taken and then on the last day they all sit down with their photos and scrapbook them.  To make it a little faster and as frustration free as possible I found it easier to make a sample page and cut each piece for the kit so the kids only have to paste down the pieces and their photo down.  Unfortunately the camp was to far out for me to attend this year which is a shame, these kids come from such diverse backgrounds and although its so sad to hear some of their stories it still such a wonderful thing to be part of.  It also make you quite thankful for what you do have with your own family.

So whilst I'm onto the whole "Thankful" thing, I thought I had better post the details of the "Give Thanks Crop" we are hosting over Colorful Creations between the 5th - 7th of October.

If you wanting to have a little bit of  fun and try out a new site we will have some great give aways.  Hope to see you there.

Bye for now

New Design Team

I possibly could have shared this a little while ago but thought I would wait until It was my turn to post.  It is so nice of Patricia over at Paper Temptress to have me as one of her new Design Team members.  Paper Temptress has been established for some time and specialises in some beautiful textured papers, gorgeous lustre's and not to mention Mica/Metallic, what is this you ask?  The mica/metallic paperline is perfect for Digital Embossing: print image with an ink jet printer, immediately pour embossing powder over the digital image and heat for an embossed finish.....Works perfectly for sentiments!!  And if you have been a big fan of Hambly and need to replenish stock whilst its still available then you won't want to miss out on not only a great selection but great prices as well.

I thought I would also share with the Scrapbooking world my DD messy bedroom, as they say revenge is sweet, hopefully now that I have shared  she may be embarrassed enough to keep it clean....lol  One can only hope.  This was taken when she was about 15, why she feels the need to try on every outfit in her wardrobe before going out is beyond me.   I think she gets that habit off her father, just saying!!!

I have used the following products and had some fun with my Martha Stewarts border punches and Sizzix  die shapes.  I also used my Spellbinders large circle to cut the centre out of the Pink Antique Doily acetate and my Tim Holtz distressing stamp.

Pink Antique Doily
Pink Sweet Tooth  - these are the cute little Jars I cut out on the RH side of the photo.
Script Tease
Out on A Limb
Home Decor
Brown Bag
Vintage Journal Bits Kraft

My Second Layout is a picture of my DH chilling out on a holiday we had quite a few years ago,  these paper worked beautifully with this pic.  Again I did some punching with my circle punch.  I also made some paint to match the colour in the paper, splattered it onto the page and coloured my chipboard letters.

Products used here are:
Vintage Journal Kraft Bits
Black Vintage Frames
Epic Black Thick Columns
3/4 Graph
Solar White Thick Columns
October Afternoon stickers, Pink Paislee Twine and chipboard alphas.

Thanks for looking hope you have some time to drop by Paper Temptress and check out the specialty papers.

And as always I would like to say a big thank you to those that stopped by and left comments, Its nice to know that your work has inspired or left an impression.  So Thanks!!!

Scrapping on a Shoe String

As I mentioned in my previous post, over at Colorful Creations we had a little discussion on the cost of our pages, since then I have decided to stick to a shoe string budget of $10.  Obviously there will be some purchases I've made prior, such as templates, stamps and packs of brads and I have worked  these in to my budget still keeping it all under the $10 that is Aussie $$$, I'm guessing you would get way more product for that in the USA.

Quite honestly when I look through my pages I don't really ever go over this anyway so it hasn't been  that much of a far stretch to how I would normally create.  Very rarely would I have throw a full packet of Prima's on my page as they would have be one of the most expensive items I can think of, retailing from any where from $6.50 plus.  When I do spend that much on a pack I generally like to make sure I'm going a few uses from it.  So with my little budget I have created the layout and tag below and this card as well.

I used some for the base of the card some acetate packaging which I have cut to size and joined using some of the left of paper.

The front of the card I have used left overs here and die cut three shapes using my Nestabilities and Memory Box dies.

Again using Memory Box die and little bit of machine stitching and the letters a from a really old pack of Provo metal letters that have been sitting around for about 5 years.  I have glittered up some of the flower and the Dusty Attic chippie.

Ok I was really scrapping the bottom of the barrel to find these last pieces of scrap finishing off with one of the sentiments in my Maya Roads stamp set, that I purchased ages ago, so glad to finally get some use out of them.

With a little dusting of glitter and touch of dimensional pearls I was very happy with the end result.  Sorry couldn't get better images to show how sparkly and pretty it all really looks.  I should mention because of the weight of it all I found an old 7Gypsy stretchy toggle [not sure of their real name] and punched two holes on either side of the card and threaded it through so that it will not fall over.  You can see the little toggle part of the bottom left hand side.

Well thanks for looking and thanks also to those that have taken the time out to leave me a comment.  Would love to hear your thoughts on how much you spend on a page.

Bye

For The Girls - Anything Goes!!!

Well its been a great start to the month I have actually completed 3 pages already, two I can't share yet.

Over at Colorful Creations we have plenty of challenges going on at the start of the month with a couple of extra's in the middle of the month.  And YES you have the whole month to get them done, so no need to feel rushed, I love not being rushed!!!

This month I thought I would kick off with our Design Team members Anne's Challenge - For the Girls.

Photo is of my DD when she was  about 2 playing outside with a dog a few months before he passed.  He was such a great dog to have around kids and is sadly missed, even now.

I have used a combination of papers from Theresa Collins Vintage Finds and Prima Rondelle Collections.

Picture has a MME overlay from Lost & Found Range.

Since we had a discussion in the forum over at CC I have decided to challenge myself a little by scrapping on a shoe string budget.  In total I have used $5.20 in papers and not only created this page, also a Tag and Card.  Embellishments are just from my stash so no extra outlay there.

Embellishments used:  MM eyelets, Prima pebble, Dusty Attic chipboard, Twine, JB Paint, Autumn Leaves Stamp, LilyBee alphas, MME Transparencies and Tim Holtz cardstock.

My Tag was created for Rachael's Tag Challenge.

I have made it for someone who unfortunately is going through Lymphoma.

Embellishments used:  Provo Craft Black Metal Alphas, MM Label & Stickers, MME Stamp, Ribbon, Ink,  and Glitter, Kaiser Bloom and Brad.

Thanks for looking and for your comments that you've have left on my previous work, they are always appreciated.  Hope you have the chance to drop by CC and play along.

Bye for now

Check it Out - New Monthly Challenges!!!

As much as I hate to see the end of the month, its is exciting to see all the new challenges posted.  Colorful Creations has a great range of events so why not come on over and check them out.  Most of the challenges require you to have them submitted by the end of the month giving you plenty of time to work through your faves giving you enough time to challenge yourself with something out of the norm.

My colours this week were taken from the Bo-Bunny Collection "Little Miss", not only do I love the colours but the papers also, so it was the perfect opportunity to use them out of my stash.  We have also had a few discussion about the amount of money spent on our pages so I thought I would set myself a budget of $10AU and see what I could create,  I worked out the total of my page and card came to around $8 AU in products but does not include tools ie, punches, stamps and glitter.

Products Used:  Kraft Cardstock, Heidi Swapp Circle Bling, The Cats Meow Stamps Set, Twine, Die Cuts, Kaiser & Maya Roads Brads, Dimensional Pearls, Glitter and Martha Stewarts Border Punch.

Thanks for looking and for any comments you may leave and I hope that you get the opportunity to join us over at CC and play along.

Bye for now
