Sketchabilities 115

Good Morning, its a beautiful one here in Sunny Queensland.  Although I do love winter I'm happy to say weve only had one cold snap so far.  Although QLD's cold snap is probably pretty mild to most other states and countries.  Well whatever your weather temp is I hoping you are getting some creative time in.

My first share for the week, oh who am I kidding!!!  its probably going to be my only share. It takes me a good few hours to create a page, between paint drying, interruptions. work and lets not to mention quality time with  family and sleep it doesn't leave a whole lot of time to create. But if I get a couple of pages a week done I am happy with that.

I played along with the Sketchabilities sketch, I just love how inspirational they are. If you haven't been over there go and check them out.  I'm sure you will find loads of inspiration!

Sketch 115

 My twist!!!

I have used this picture of my baby, not that she is a baby any more as she will be 20 in a few weeks.  However its one I haven't scrapped, its not the perfect photo but when I look at it, it reminds me what a gorgeous baby she was to deal with.  Even at 20 she has a sweet nature!!!

Close up of the beautiful Memory Box banner die I have used.  I also went with the layered frame as that was quite dominant in the sketch.

Here i have used quite a few cutouts, one of the things I love using on my pages over anything.   I love the challenge of taking a sheet of paper and finding something interesting to use.

This close up is the best I could get, showing the layers I have created, although they have been a little covered with gesso and inks.  But I'm sure you get the picture.

Products Used:

Prima Flowers & Paper
Kaiser Flowers & Stamps
K & Company - Resin
Cheery Lane - Die Cut
Memory Box - Die Cut
Twine, inks and other medium.

Thanks for looking and I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Thanks also for taking the time out to leave me your comments, they are always appreciated.

Bye for now!!!!

Black With 2 - May Challenge

I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend, I spent a good part of the day with my daughter.
We had a lovely coffee up at Mt Tamborine and checked out a couple of vintage stores.
Two purchases later and we left with a gorgeous little glass and a cup and saucer tea set and yes they both happen to be pink.  I will try and remember to take some pictures to share with you all.  For the time being I hope you will enjoy my page I created for the BW2 Challenge.  If you haven't checked out this challenge site just click on the picture below and it will take you there.

As well as using the above colours we also need to use the sketch.  I flipped the photo area of this sketch and inspiration from the above image was used in the form of  texture paste and some paint splatters.

Here is my take on the Challenge.

I used Bassill cardstock swiss dot, for my background along with some texture paste and stamps.  A little hard to photograph the soft grey without it looking a little on the white side.

The photograph is of a bottle of perfume my husband gave me for Valentines day last year.  We don't normally do anything for this day as its not something I feel needs to celebrated.  This is about the 3rd Valentines present he has given me in our 20 odd years together.
Its nice to be surprised on occasions rather than expect.

I've randomly stamped Feb and layered my paper elements.  I used Magnolia's Doily flower to create some of the petals in my flower spray and the word love was a jillibean sticker that I have inked black.

Other Products Used:

MME - Tag
Chipboard numbers and bracket
Martha Stewart punch
Prima flowers & stamp
Bazzill - cardstock & brads
micro beads, textured paste, black gesso, tulle
Maya Roads mist
Papes - Kaiser Craft Ärt of Life
Basic Grey - Griffin
Provo Craft - metal letters
Crafters Workshop - Templates

And just another quick share I was so happy to see not only my page featured over at Sketchabilities but my friend Caroline Jarden's layout was featured also.

Well the weekend is coming to a fast close for me, thanks for dropping by and thank you to those that take the time out to leave me your lovely comments, they are always appreciated.

Bye for now

Sketchabilites Challenge #114

Hi Everyone,

I've been working my way through all the challenge sites out there and stumbled upon Sketchabilities.  I have admired these sketches for a while, this one is particularly pretty and inspirational, so I thought I would play along.
Haven't played along yet why not give it a go!!!

Here is my take on it.

I flipped the sketch

Close ups shows the stamps and mediums I have used.

My journalling basically says a little about my son and our dog, even at 17 he still knows how to have fun with her.

Its good to see whilst I've been out of the loop not to much has changed in the scrapping world!!!

PRODUCTS USED:

Crafters Workshop Templates
Glitz roller stamp
Prima - papers

Tattered Angels - glimmer mist

Thanks for looking and thank you to those that take the time to leave me a comment, always appreciated.  Have a great remaining week!!!

Sweat for a Cure

Hi Everyone!

I hope you're all  having a great weekend.

Its a tad cold here today in Brisbane, not that I'm complaining, I really enjoy the colder months.
Life is finally settling down here on the home front, unfortunately sometimes there a just things out of your control.  I wanted to share this layout that I created,  it wasn't for any challenge,  I just wanted to scrap a moment about a great cause.

Sweat for a Cure was about riding a stationery spin bike for 4 hours, we had to have a team and raise money.  My team had 3 riders and only one bike's kilometres would be counted.  This didn't mean we got to sit back and watch, whilst one of the team members pedal furiously.  We all had bike and we all rode as hard as possible, we needed to encourage the person who't turn it was.  Casually pedalling would not cut it.

Four hours later and were cramping up and exhausted, we had ridden 120km's and it was all for a good cause.
Were we competitive, absolutely!!!

The picture I have used is one taken before we started out ride.  Maybe I should have had one taken as we were trying to get off our bike, or should say fell off...

I have used papers from Belle Carte, I love their papers as they have a nice texture to them.
Some Prima off cuts and the chipboard has been coated with Tim Holtz distress embossing powder. This powder is a mix of soft blue, white and gold and just looks gorgeous once its melted.
The cute little banners were a sweet gift from Mitralee, thank you Mitra.

Well I am off to get some more scrapping done, enjoy your weekend!!!
