Challenge 173 - Inner Geek & Color Combos Galore 193

The new challenge is up over at "How Much is to Much" and I thought I would also combine Color Combos Galore 193 as I will be away for the weekend on a retreat and will not have access to internet.

Over at HMITM its all about celebrating National Geek Pride Day. Now, I know we all have a little geek inside of us. Let's scrap about it! Show us in a layout something that's a little geeky about you (or a loved one)! We'll be using prime numbers on our layout. The great thing about his Challenge is you don't have it done until the 5th June.

Use:
2 photos - check
a 3 word title - check
5 different patterned papers - 3 Strips,1 background and flowers cut from another.
7 stickers - smaller photo matted on MM Sticker journal shape, 2 JBowlin Buttterfly stickers, 1 MM border sticker, 2 JB Circle Numbers, clear word on smaller phot.
11 metal items - 7 flower eyelets, 2 number brads, 1 round eyelet and butterfly pin.
13 buttons - found 9 leaf clear button shaped leaves in my stash and inked them green, 1 large pink button and 1 small flower button stitched on top, 1 for the dot in the title and 1 for the centre of the flower.

These are such a fun challenge, why???? Because it gets you using stash that you probably forgot you had, and it uses up photos that are laying around. I don't print photos to suit what I am going to do nor do I take photos so I can make a pretty page. I scrap purely for enjoyment and to capture a moment that I want to preserve. For me its not about taking my kids out for a photo shoot and hoping that a moment will happen, I want my kids to look back through my albums and remember times we had not photo shoots I created. With that said I hope you enjoy seeing my pages and the story that I have tried to capture with both photos and art.

Thanks for any comments you may leave.

May is American Bike Month. Biking is good for you and the environment. Not only is it green, it gets you off the couch, into the lovely spring weather. You burn calories and save money. Many towns and cities around the country are having events to particpate in this celebration. This was the inspiration for my challenge.

-2 pictures - Pictues are some portrait shots of my Nephew and Niece that were Christmas presents
-3 or more metal embellishments - 2 metal out circles and K & Co Blue picture frame
-ribbon for handlebar streamers - Metal circle frames are stitched with silk ribbon
-a flag or pennant - cut from K & Co paper, rolled at the end and secured to a toothpick

-And an image of a bike somewhere on your page. - check

Hope it inspires you to come on over the HMITM and join in on the fun challenges.

White + Orange + Scallops

I thought I would play along over at White with 1, I have used so much orange in other challenges that I thought it would be a good idea to use scraps that I had cut out but did not end up using.

On this page I used a photo of the Sunset I took when I was visiting my family in Perth, I also had a photo of the kids on the beach so I decided to 3D it on the top added something different to the page. The cutout is from a Theresa Collins paper that I never used for another challenge. I found lots of orange stickers and I used a Transparent film frame from MLYBicycle. The banner sticker is the negative of my sticker sheet. Flowers are from Kaiser Craft.

Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoyed my take on the Challenge.

Color Combos Galore 192 & Once Upon A Sketch

This weeks inspiration picture inspired me to do some remaining pictures of my DD that I had printed off and not yet used. I had also popped over to Once Upon A Sketch and thought my layout also fitted the Sketch over there. I took these pics of her whilst she was out in the pool just before it started to get to cold to swim. She is not a big fan of swimming and cannot for the life of me understand why, must be a teen girl thing. Anyway the colours this week for me seemed to go quite well with water photos.

I have done lots of layering by using a lot of cutouts from paper. The background paper is Prima Madeline, Making Memories for all the flower cutouts and DCWV Glitter cardstock and Bazzill cardstock.

I used a Martha Stewart's punch on the glitter cardstock and stitched this down in a circle. Tags were cut from Websters paper and I have journalled on them about my DD lack of love for our pool....lol Title is made up of Chipboard Letters from Heidi Swapp and metalic letters are from Pressed Petals for some reason these a photographing a lot darker than what they actually are. I Matha Stewart punched some of the left over papers, inked and stitched these down. Other products used are silk ribbon, Swirl stickers, glimmer mist and Kindy Glitz.

I hope you enjoyed checking this out and were inspired in some way, thanks for any comments you may leave.

Prima

I recently attended a Prima Class, however in saying that I was a little dissappointed as it really wasn't a class at all, however at least it was a page rather than an off the page item. We were given a kit which had 3 sheets from the Sparkly Spring Range - Berry, Pink Apron and Emily, 1 Bling Swirl, 1 piece of fabric blooms and 2 packs of paper flowers, mini roses and two large flowers and a packet of alphabets.

After the first tear that we were asked to do I decided that I would go in my own direction and make it my page rather than the Prima Educators, no reflection on the Educator, if I am not going to be learning some new technique then I rather just do my own page. I generally don't do classes and If I do I want to learn something new or try out new products. I also didn't realise that we needed 3 photos for the page either.

I don't particularly like large flowers so I cut the two that came in the back and tucked some of the pink flower up on the LH side of my page, the blue flower I pulled it apart and used as a ruffle under the torn paper above the photo. The centres from these flowers were used as embellishments. I cut butterflys from the Berry paper and 3D'd these. I punched more butterflys from a Matha Stewart punch.

The bling Swirl was cut into 3 pieces. I did some stitching around the page and spritzed with glimmer mist. Packaging from the bling was used just under the LH side of the photo and I used the packaging from the mini roses as a mat to hold my title.
I used a Prima stamp under the large paper tear and used some kindy glitz to give it some glimmer. Hopefully I haven't left any details out. Thanks for looking and for any comments you may leave. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Currently I am working on the latest challenge from How Much is Too Much, if you are looking for something challenging to do why not pop over to the blog and check it out.

Just a quick post for the Color Combos Galore.

Products are a mixture from Fancy Pants, Basic Grey, Bazzill and Hambly. Thanks for looking and for any comments that you may leave.

HMITM - Challenge 170

I was supposed to put this up last week when I completed it, but alas I am behind the 8 ball this time....lol I will also be adding my friend who also took up the challenge as she does not have a blog.

Despite all the 'negative talk' about scrapbookers trying not to feel like they are 'behind the 8 ball' when it comes to their albums, I think we have all felt that way at one time or another. The challenge this time is to use...

8 patterned papers - check
8 rubons - check
8 brads - check
8 stickers- check
8 word title - check, now that was a challenge.

I also had some more fun with the number 8, by adding eight leaves, flowers and birds also cut from the eight patterened papers.

If you are looking for a fun challenge that will help you use some of that stash, then why not come along and play over at "How Much is to Much".

CCG Palette 190 - My Niece

I just loved the inspirational picture this week, all those tones washing into each are stunning. We were to focus on siblings and or pets, since my brother and I live so far apart I very rarely get to see him or his family so moments like the photo have rarely been captured. This was my first introduction to my niece and also the last for another 2 years so I wanted to make the page quite pretty and girly.

My Niece a

Materials used. Background Srapworks Magpie Orchard, Crate Paper Doilies, K & CO Serafera and Cosmo Cricket. DMC threads in 4 colours for the stitching, Silver alpha sticker sent to my by Eila. The frame around the photos was cutout from and old K & Company front paper stack cover, other Alphabets are from BG and MM. I had made two flowers. Background papers was painted, stamped and spritzed. Left hand side of the picture I have used the negatives from two stickers. I painted and stitched around the photo. Other embellishments are from Fancy pants, Websters, WeR,prima and Kaiser.

THE ROYAL CROWN

My friends Tracee from the UK & Marissa from Australia decided to have a little Royal Wedding scrap party on skype. The first challenge was for us to make a royal crown for the occasion. Tracee did and awesome job by bringing a little bit of Kate to the party, whilst I after having my whole day re-arranged by my husband had less than hour to get mine done. I was going for the Royal Jewel look and used a plastic milk carton that I cut up and recycled, I sprayed with some glitter spray and hot glued my bling on. Unfortunately mine didn't see through the night, it fell of my head and broke....lol

If you want a good laugh hop over to Tracee's and check her's out.
