Farewell Creative Scrappers - Sketch 197

Sketch 197 has been posted over at Creative Sketches, it is also my last one as well.  I enjoyed my time over there and I did enjoy working with Kristine's designs.  Not normally a sketch sort of person, however it did give me the opportunity to experiment with them and try something new.

The picture is of my friends Niece, its an adorable photo and it worked perfectly with the colours from Simple Stories.  I was lucky enough to spend a week at a friends house but unfortunately I didn't have my normal stash on hand so my last two sketches and I had to work with what a brought along with me.  Which wasn't much...lol   However I did prove to myself that you can create a  beautiful page with limited supplies.

Products Used: Pink Paisley frame,Simple Stories patterned paper pack, Kaiser Pearls & flowers, Prima blooms.

Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoyed my work whilst I was a Design Team member for Creative Scrappers and a big thank you to Kristine for giving me the opportunity.

Skyrail

So I can't go on a holiday at the moment so I thought I would work with some holiday photos instead.

I chose to use a photo from a Cruise my Husband and I went on, our first 7 day trip without the kids.

Normally we wouldn't book any of the tours, and of course the first time we did half it had to be cancelled due to the amount of rain that Cairns received it caused a landslide on the railway line so we couldn't take the train up. Instead of sitting back and enjoying the scenery I was holding on for dear life. Seriously I do not enjoy being in such a large vehicle on a narrow winding road, however I did enjoy the morning tea stop at tjapukai the Aboriginal Culture Park not too mention the lovely Skyrail trip back down.

I have cut a little booklet that is hidden behind the photo which I have secured with a decorative pin and ribbons to match the palette I needed a little booklet so that I could recap my Testimony, the Star Attraction being the Tour along with myself, husband and two of our friends as the cast....lol I love this fun twist to the journaling.

I have stamped some stars on the page and also used a star chippie up the top.  A transparent frame from MME.

I used an Embossing folder for the flourish, cutout and inked it. I stamped using the new MME "Dilly Dally" Adventures collection. Tags were cut from my sizzix and I stamped and distressed some Dusty Attic banners. The other banners are little pictures of the day.

Products Used - Papers used are from MME old and new, MME Stamps, Dusty Attic Banners, Glimmer Mist and Stamps. Thanks for looking and I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend wherever they are.

The Color Room - Palette 98

Totally loved the colours that Lydell put together over at the Color Room this week and here is my take on them.
Whilst I do love the rain, it can be so annoying when you need to get a shot of your layout, at least I did get one without rain drops on it. lol
The photo was taken of my Daughter and Son Easter Sunday whilst they were egg hunting, and some how another photo of another occasion was taken over it, not sure how this happened but it did. I still wanted to use the photo as its sentimental and I thought it looked kind of cool the way the double exposure of it has the background of O'Rileys in it.
The flowers are handmade using paper from Crate Paper Samantha Collection, not too mention very therapeutic when dealing with Telstra, yes I made these whilst waiting on hold for over an hour. How I manage to annihilate them is amazing. Lil Davis metallic shades "Sweet Pea" was used for the paint splattering and Tim Holtz paint splatter stamp. The swirls are a Dusty Attic frame that I cut to fit into the flow of the circle shape.
Hidden journalling behind photo is a note to my kids about how I hope they get as much enjoyment one day when they have kids on these celebration days. Product use: DCWV Latte Cardstock Navy background and Glitter die cut circle, Dusty Attic Frame, K & Company Addison papers, Micro Beedz, Websters & Scrap Metals Alphas, Transparency word "Me" Autumn Leaves, Magic Dotti, Crackle Glossy Accents, Pink Paislee Journal note. Color Box inks and bling brads. Hopefully I haven't left anything out, feel free to ask me any questions, thanks for looking and for any comments you may leave, they are always welcomed and enjoyed.

Gallery Pretties

I hadn't heard of this blog until I received a comment on one my pages over at Two Peas, the site is called One Story Down .  I won't go into depth explaining about it so why not click on the link and check it out.  They  have a section called Gallery Pretties where 10 pages have been picked and I was lucky enough to be one that was selected, so a big shout out goes to Fruitloopea who chose my layout.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Bye for now

Holiday Photos

I love this photo oi my Mum and DD taken whilst we were on one of our cruises.

I have used a picture of my Mum and DD taken whilst we were cruising around the Pacific Islands.

I chose to do my layout on black cardstock as I usually do and I mixed and matched products from a variety of companies.

Happiness

As soon as I saw these colours it reminded me of the 70's, I am sure I have been into kitchens with this colour scheme...lol  But don't let that put you off the Design Team members have done and wonderful job showing some great inspiration to use these colours.

I stitched a frame then painted it with the MM Honeydew paint before I journalled along it.

Evidence used -  Transparent frame by Hambly
Two Patterns of the same colour

Sorry about the photography here I think one of these might have been taken when the sun finally came out. I have painted the Dusty Attic Frame with the MM HoneyDew then sprinkled with Matha Stewart course glitter and painted over again to take the sparkle away but still leave the texture.

Testimony - Is about how my son at this age was always happy and I loved his giggle.  The journalling reads how I think his Nana must have taken this photo and also how the first time he hit the water he just took to it, no fear at all.

Thanks for looking and Its great to see so  many people playing along.

Products Used:  Dusty Attic Frame, Hambly Transparency,  Imaginisce Chipboard, Patterned papers are from Fancy Pants, Websters, Pink Paislee and Crate Paper.  Alpha Stickers are Websters,

The Passing of the Liebster

I was honoured to be given a Liebster Blog Award by not only one lovely person but two, I have been super busy and didn't get to post straight away, so I do apologise and I would like to thank the following two ladies that nominated my blog.

Fran Brunkehttp://paperinkme.blogspot.com.au, who always take the time out to leave me lovely comments on my work, something I do not automatically take for granted since becoming a DT member.  Whilst I might not always make it to your blog I always try and make sure I take the time to leave comments on your lovely work, so thank you.

Roxannehttp://www.roxolsenprojects.blogspot.com.au/, and this lovely lady who is totally new to me but thought I was worthy also, so I am now  following your blog and will take some time over the weekend to familiarise myself with your work  also, I really appreciate that you have taken the time to give me this Award.

Okay for those who don't know about this award here is a run down:

Liebster is German and means 'dearest' or 'beloved' but it can also mean 'favourite'. the idea of the Liebster Award is to bring attention to blogs with less than 200 followers. So, in the spirit of good fun i am passing this award on to five other bloggers. please stop by and visit them.

here are The Rules"

1. show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
2. reveal your five picks for the award and let them know.
3. post the award on your blog.
4. bask in the love from the most supportive people on the blogshare-other bloggers.
5. finally and the best rule of all...........have fun and spread the love!

These ladies are all multi- talented, warm-hearted, and they are all artists dedicated to their scrapping passions, they take the time to reach out to others spreading their love, so I would like to thank you and pass on the award to you ladies.

In no particular order, here are my 5 Leibsters:

A Soliders Story

Well it seems just as I thought the rain may have finally disappeared that it has become overcast and dreary again, okay I am not a  big lover of Queensland's summer, to humid for me that you always feel drained, but I do like to see the sun.  So I am glad I took photos of my layout Thursday otherwise the would have probably come out like the last two post way to dark.

My Title Reads:  A Solider's Story, The Story no one will know.

Hidden Journalling: There are a lot of things I will never know about this photo.

1     I can see that he has a uniform on but I have know idea what it was for.
2     I do not know what he was doing or where he was going.
3     I can see a house and a picket fence in the background, but do not know the location of it.
4     What I do know is, this is my Great Grandad, someone I called Pop.  Someone who came to
dinner and always brought as a bag of boiled lollies.
5     Someone who's face was a little scratchy when he hugged and kissed us.  He is someone that
was definitely loved and and is always dearly missed.

So if you are still reading and I suppose even if its only one person who made it this far I hope this has sparked enough interest to really journal on you page this week, and if it does let me know so that I don't miss out on reading your journalling.

Products used:  Simple Stories, Bo-Bunny Scenic Route papers, Bo Bunny Alphas, Echo Park Stickers, MM Journalling block, Basic Grey Alphas, Kaiser Metal, Maya Blooms, 7Gypsy Ribbon, Twine.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.
PS..since this isn't going to be marked by and English Teacher, I do apologize for any spelling and grammatical errors.
