Fun Tag Challenge

Its been a little quiet on the blog front as I have been busy creating in the kitchen rather than in the craft room. I love baking so I thought I should spend a little more time doing that before the weather becomes unbearable hot and it becomes the last thing I want to do.  One of my favorite shows is Cake Wars, if you haven't watched this before you should check  it out, its amazing what these people can achieve on a time frame.

Oh well enough of me talking about baking otherwise I will get side tracked and head back to the kitchen...lol

I did get a couple of layouts completed, however I am unable to share these at the moment, but I can share this tag I made for the Fun Tag Event over at Colorful Creations.  I'm really enjoying making these tags which I will eventually frame once I get selection together, firstly I need to stop giving them away.

The tag I have created here is 3 1/4"x 6 1/4" which was cut from Kraft cardstock.  The Cherub comes from a Kaiser paper and I have used a Heidi Swapp date stamp and a Tim Holtz embossing die to decorate the background.

Other products used:  Bo Bunny paper, Prima flowers, Pink Paislee Twine, Glitter, Bling ribbon slide, Prima Pearls, Memory Box Dies - Loop Border [no image], Bistro Label and Vivienne Butterfly, Stazon Timber Brown.

Thanks for looking and I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.  Its been a beautiful sunny day here in Brisbane perfect outdoor weather.

Bye for now

Back in the land of the living

Recently my husband and I received in the mail a voucher to spend 2 free nights at the Treasury Casino, obviously thought it must be some sort of gimmick as its not often you get something for nothing.  We don't often go to the Casino unless my parents are visiting, which was just recently, so we were surprised to receive this offer.  Well we took the offer up, I mean who wouldn't?  The rooms were quite posh with an awesome bathroom, its not often I take the time to luxuriate in a bathroom so you can bet I did on this weekend.

Friday night we enjoyed a lovely meal in one of the restaurants in the Casino then had a small flutter on the pokies before we retired to watch some more of the Olympics,  I love the Rhythmic Gymnastics.

The next morning we spent a good part of the day roaming around South Bank,  then I left my husband in the hotel room with his book whilst I explored the Queen Street Mall, so many beautiful things to look at, okay I may have purchased some items as there was some great bargains going on.  I do know I had more luggage when I left the hotel than when I arrived...lol

Saturday we had dinner at Black Jacks which was buffet style and we finished off again in the Casino for a couple of hours spending my winnings from the night before.  We hadn't been back to the room for long and my husband said he didn't feel well and wondered if it was something that he had eat.  So the second night was spent listening to my poor husband make some very inhumane noises whilst he was in the bathroom, sorry to gross you out.  Thinking it was food poisoning were had intended to ring them up during the week but as it turned out it wasn't as I woke up in the wee hours of Tuesday morning with all the same symptoms, yep definitely wasn't food poisoning.   Whatever it was it has taken us a good several days to come back to the land of the living and we are both still not feeling a 100% .  Usually you hear people talking about these stomach viruses when their kids are little and it working itself through the house, we have been lucky enough to never had one of those and still we were lucky enough that out kids did not pick it up from us, don't think I would have liked to have dealt with myself and them, although they are big enough and ugly enough to look after themselves.  My DD had the day of anyway and she was a fantastic nurse!!!

Anyway I thought I would share a couple of challenges I did over at Colorful Creations before I went away, it seems ages since I have posted a project.  I participated in Tabitha's  Twisted Blue Prints #7 and Milagros Use Your Stash Challeges.  If you would like to check these  out I have linked them and Im sure the girls would love for you to check their work out.

Twisted Blue Prints #7

I had some fun doing this challenge and Im really trying to use some of my older products.  Such as the older K and Company papers, velvet flowers from Imaginesce and even some old stickers from Sticker Studio.

I machine stitched around the edges of the paper and used some sticker words for my journalling.

Use Your Stash

Again another fun challenge to really get in and use your stash, again I challenged myself to use older products from my stash with only a couple of newbies.  The only thing I struggled on, was getting some lace onto my page after I finished it.  In the end I was able to use some around the picture.

I used some really old Crate Paper from the "Samantha Collection" along with a couple of die cuts & stickers from "Pretty Party" range.  Other stickers are from K & Company and Simple Stories, Blooms are Dusty Attic and Prima, Heidi Swap Rhinestones and I have colour the ribbon using my Tattered Angels mists.

Sorry for the long winded post, for those that did take the time to read...lol  and if you didn't that's okay as well.  Hope everyone has had a great week and is looking forward to a nice break over the weekend.  Again thank you to those that stop by and leave me your lovely comments, its always nice to know that your work is appreciated.

Bye for now

Guest Designer August - Sketch

Well things have finally slowed down enough that I was able to participate in the Sketch Challenge over at Colorful Creations. Every week we have a new Sketch along with a Guest Designer, this month we have Lynn, if you have a chance I am sure she would love you to check out her work on her blog and I promise you won't be disappointed.

Here is my take, I sort of twisted some of the elements here and I created a 9"sq page, I find these are heaps quicker to do if you are working on limited time.  To most this is far from a perfect photo,  but for me this is what scrapping is about, documenting a moment regardless what the state the image is.  This one here is of me and my younger cousin, I'm really not sure if someone was trying to take a photo of us or the car in the background....lol  and I don't remember much about the day other than having our hair primped and getting to wear our pretty dresses for my Aunties wedding day.

I have used Dusty Attic Chipboard and cut two of the Memory Box die cuts.
Here I have used Jenny Bowlin Core Impressions for the background, sanding to reveal the embossed print a little better.  I have also used MME "Sunshine "Lovely"Sewing paper along with Hambly transparencies.

Im loving these dies from Memory Box, they are delicate and are a perfect addition to your page. Other products I have used are Dusty Attich mini bird chippies, Prima bloom, Martha Stewart Cherish border punch, MM mini alphas and some other odds and ends from my stash.

Well I hope everyone is enjoying there weekend,  its beautiful and sunny here in Queensland so Im hoping to get a little time outside in the sun to get my daily dose of vitamin D.

Thanks for looking, its great to read your comments so thanks to those that take the time out to do so.

Take Care

Pinch and a Punch

Well there is no point going on about how fast the months are flying by, the only upside I can see is that we get some fantastic new challenges.  I'm just hoping to get some scrapping done in between watching the Olympics.  Its been great watching the women's weight lifting,  lifting weights more than twice their own body weight, what an achievement!  The rowing has also been great especially watching the team effort and how well the work together and the great thing about sport whilst quite a few will go home disappointed that they are not bringing a medal home, they can at least know that they did their best on that day.

It's a shame it doesn't work in other Industries, it doesn't matter how much you put into it, its about who you know rather than what you know.  But it does give me perspective watching these awesome sports people, and it reminds me of why I scrap.  I don't do it for recognition, but more to share ideas.  This is why my photos are,  what have people called them, Oh! yes candid, I think this is the opposite to contrived.  I want my family to look through my albums and have a laugh and talk about the moments that were captured in those shots.  So my pages may not be Gold Medal worthy to anyone else, however they are worth a million bucks to my family.

So if you haven't checked out the Olympics make some time and enjoy watching your country no matter where they place, as blood, sweat and tears goes into these performances.

Now onto my Challenge over at Colorful Creations, normally I would have done a layout but so as not to exclude any card makers I went with a card. I slightly lost control, I ended up with this Card/Decorative Envelope/Mini Book, hmm mm really don't know what to call it...lol  I thought it would be nice for my DD to write her Aunty and Uncle a thank you note for her 18th Birthday gift so I have popped that into the little pocket that I have made along with a little gift that I found for my sister in-law quite a while ago and still had not sent to her.  And I had to include a picture of my DD as well, yes well the hand over the mouth might have been from chugging down her drink.  I can happily say she did not make a mess out of herself on the night, there was definitely no bowl hugging, if you get my drift.

And this is my project

Love this photo of my DD, caught at her best...lol

I created a pocket that I have machine stitched to hold the note and gift.  I have cut the jar using my Papertrey Ink die cut and stamp set.  The Little fairy is from Dusty Attic.
Well this is the back if fold it out but when folded it in, it makes up the front. I have stitched down the papers, nothing worse when you receive a hand made gift and it falls apart because of the glue.   I prefer to stitch things down. The pearl is from Zva and from my old stash a K & Co fabric brad.

Thanks for dropping by, hope you have enjoyed my project for this month, and if you have some spare time why not drop on over to Colorful Creations.

Other Products:  K & Company Paper & Brads, Websters Paper,Stickers & Blooms, Kaiser mini blooms, Martha Stewart border punches, Memory Box die cut, 7Gypsy elastic closure, KF - Eyelet Brad, Bazzill Cardstock, Dusty Attic Chipboard,
