PRIMA - Build-A-Page Challenge

Hi Everyone, just a quick share!

I started this page whilst on was on a scrap camp, I saw the sketch over at Prima and saw a challenge.  hmmmm hexagons, they are not always the easiest shape to use especially the way they are showing in the sketch.
As everyone knows you can use the sketch as loosely as you like, well at least that is the way most sketch site seem to be, but where's the challenge in that.

So here is my take on this sketch.

I used an instagram photo that I took on my phone of my husband when we recently did the Eat Street Markets at Hamilton.  These are worth stopping in at, loved the atmosphere and the food what more could you want.

The products I have used are some really old Prima papers as well as Prima blooms and the the cute little stitched stamp is one of my faves at the moment both in the circle and  rectangles.  I cut out the hexagons first, distressed them before gluing them down and layering some texture paste over them.  I have also misted with Prima Blooms in "Soft Teal and Peony".

Well its starting to get really cold out here in the craft room, so I do apologise for my errors in this post but I am needing to get in front of the fire.

Have a great evening and week!

Bye for now

SCRAP AROUND THE WORLD - CHALLENGE 14

Well not only is this weekend flying by but it seems to the whole month has gone in a flurry!!!
The weather here has been on the cold side which means then I can't get out into the craft room as much as I would like. A fortnight ago I was away on a scrapping weekend with 12 other like minded scrappers, it was nice not having to pack up organise dinner or anything else for that matter.  No internet, no telephones just the bird singing and the cows watching us, well watching us when we stepped out to go for a walk.

This time around we discovered we had all come and gone to this weekend over the past 11 years, which a couple of newbies each year.  We can't always make each year but its certainly lovely to catch up and share our stories and look through photographs and see how much our children have all grown.  That alone is such a wonderful experience.  I did remember to take a few challenges along with me although I didn't get as many finished as I would have liked but that's okay as well.

I have already shared the Prima Page that I did now on to SCRAP AROUND THE WORLD'S challenge.  I spotted the colours over at the lovely Lynnda's blog Arty Scrappy.  I like an interesting challenge and I thought yellow isn't a colour I get to work with often why not give it ago!

Here is my take on the challenge

I took these Instagram shots of my husband whilst he was making his purchases at my favourite store "Wheel & Barrow", I'm a bit of a foodie and could spend quite a bit of time just combing my way through this beautiful store.  Anyway since I have been working full time and I am not home in time to cook, thankfully  my lovely husband has been picking up the slack.  On this particular day he treated himself to some good quality meat loaf tins.  Now whilst some might turn their nose up to meat loaf my husband has been experimenting, [chuckle] hence the paper I have scrapped on.  No just kidding,  he has not poisoned us at all they have been delish and worthy of lunches the next day, however we just like to joke with him.  It can get a little competitive at the dinner table as we like to have fun and score each out of 10 for our meals.

From the mood board I've gone with the colour from the flowers in the basket with  the bicycle added as a fun element to my page.  The background was created using texture paste and a mask, although I have covered a lot of that with my photos and I  have misted with Earl Gray and Gold.

Other Products Used:

Glitz Sunshine papers
Pink Paislee background paper
Mists - Maya Roads
Glits - Stickers
Overlays - We R memories
Transparency - Kaiser Craft
Quickutz month die cut
Glitter and sequins

Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend.

Bye for now!!!

Prima Build A Page

I think this is my 2nd time ever that I have had the opportunity to play along over at Prima.  They have both a mood board or sketch that you can try your hand at.  As far as I can read as long as you use mostly Prima products you have the chance to win their monthly prize.  Good luck with that one!!!

For this one I went with the mood board, the sketch is a little more challenging so I'm still working on that and hope to have it done before the end of  the month.

HERE IS MY TAKE

A side shot so that you can see the layering and detail a little more closely.

I combined some old and new Prima products.

Texture paste and Prima misting Blooms were used to create the background along with their stitched circle stamp.   I love when old products are revamped and wire thread is one of these, I have been using it for years but it was getting a little hard to find, so thanks Prima for making it available again.

Other new products is the "Something Blue"range of papers and obviously this is where the colours from the palette have been taken from and after going through my stash I found some other bits and bobs that worked in as well.  I have softened the lettering with some gesso.

The picture is of my DD, we have found a place that does a great burger and onion rings not to mention these yummy cocktails, sorry mock-tails it is after all in the middle of the day!!!

Well it's my favourite day of the week here, which means only two more left before the weekend, YAY!!!
I hope everyone has a great remaining week and thanks for taking the time out to look at my work and for leaving me a comment.  As you know they are always appreciated!!!

Take Care!

Black With 2

Welcome, I think it's finally cooling down here in Sunny Queensland.
I was excited to get back from my scrapbooking weekend and find that we can actually now have the fire burning.  It was so lovely to sit in front of a fire and feel the heat radiating on your skin, especially after a long drive home.  Oh!! and to a beautifully cooked dinner, the house filled with family and friends a large glass of wine.  A perfect end to a fabulous weekend.

This is the usual time we head off to our annual scrapbooking weekend,  as much as I enjoy going, I never know what to pack.  After loading the car up with everything I think needed I was able to create for a few challenges.  First up on my list was BLACK WITH 2 challenge, the only problem when you are away from your craft room is the struggle to find the right colours.  In the end I was happy with the result.

MY TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE

I didn't have to much patterned paper to choose from so I used a little from the MME "Find Your Wings" range.  I was inspired by the picture to use some shot's taken on my Mother's Day High Tea  that my daughter had taken me to this year.  I created the background with paint and textured paste and a mask.

My Title reads "The Sweetness of Old Favourites" I thought this was fitting for the photos and the quote that  I had found in my stash.  I flipped the sketch and I used a Quickutz die cut to create my interpretation of the bottom of the sketch.

Other product used:

Kaiser - Hot Air Balloon transparency & blooms
The Crafters Wokshop - Template
Basic Grey Stickers
Websters - Stickers
Prima Flowers
My Minds Eye - Up and Away paper

Thanks for looking and for leaving me your comments, they are appreciated!!!

Have a awesome week!!!
Bye for now!

WE ARE BACK!

WE ARE BACK!
AND WITH NEW DESIGNERS!

Layouts, Cards, Project Life, Mixed Media....
Anything your heart desires to create!

As long as your project follows the Color Combo and is inspired by one of the challenge twists or what your eyes can see!

What's the FOCUS ON this week?
Will it be a design aspect? A technique? A hot trend?
Or maybe a product, photography or journaling challenge?
The possibilities are endless!

Come play along and see where our
Color Combos and Inspiration Photos take you!

Here is my sample!

I also used the sketch from over at Önce Upon A Sketch" the theme for this month' " the best things in life aren't things"  inspired me to use a photo of my son and hubby on the beach spending time together.  My hidden journalling reads how I love that spending time together is really rewarding and that we all have such a great relationship.

For my design technique over at CCG I did start with Picture 1 using the doily pattern,  unfortunately you really can't see with all my layering and paint. I also interpreted some of them a little masculine and used the cogs as well.  Hey!  they are round and decorative!!!   The colours just worked beautifully together even for a masculine page, coral isn't so feminine :)

If you would like to see what the other design team members did we would love you to pop on over and check them out.  The team have done some gorgeous projects that I am sure will inspire you.
Its great to see Janet back doing what she does best, putting gorgeous colours together.

Yes CCG has been gone for awhile, sometime even life can get in the way of things that we really are passionate about.  But we are back so come on over and check it out!!!!

Take care and I hope those that have a long weekend are making the most of it and those that don't have a great week anyway.

Thanks for looking and for taking the time to leave me a comment, they are always appreciated!!!
