Christmas Mini Album - Color Combo Galore 170

Mini Albums always seem like such a great idea until you get about half way through. Then you wonder what you got yourself into. So 20 pages later here it is. I created this for a friend who has been kind enough to let me train with her free of charge. She has no idea what scrapbooking is or about. She is going home to spend Christmas with her family and I thought it would be great for her to create a holiday album with her family. I have included a mini book to get her family to write down a few of their memorable moments for the year.

Color Combos Galore 169

Color Combos Galore Palette 169 was such a stunning palette of colors to work with. I had fun working with these colors. I used glitter as the inspiration from the sparkly baubles. I created the background my going through all of my unused rubons and then I spritzed with Glimmer mist.

The tree was hand stitched with cotton.

Where did it go?

Okay this week has been super crazy, I can't believe how fast this week has flown by that I'm still wondering where it went. So this week was a little bit of a disappointment as far as getting my LO's complete, however I did catch up with friends and slip in some Christmas shopping so not all was lost. This is the page I completed for The Color Room Palette 34. We did this family picture shoot to send out with our Christmas cards. I'm so glad we did as unfortunately our family dog passed away on Australia Day. He was much loved and is still sadly missed.

The Color Room Palette 33

The Photo on this Layout is of my Grandma's Wedding, this weeks Color Palette colors was a good excuse to do a pretty page.

The background cardstock is embossed so I distressed the edges, stitched, painted and inked. I used some old K & Company papers and border punched the floral one and distressed the other pieces. I then ripped them all on an angle and did some stitching up through them all. I've used two Dusty Attic pieces, the dress form was spritzed with Glimmer mist and the other one was painted with white paint. I then glimmer misted some scrap of my Grandma's wedding dress and wove it through the chicken wire die cut.

This Weeks Antics!!!

Okay, so these past five days have been super busy with me scrapping, I'm amazed that I actually accomplished four layouts with out giving up any of my Gym time. I decided to add to my list of website's challenges this week by also including a Sketchy Thursday Challenge. Not the best photo but with the rain it was all I could manage.

This was my take on the Sketch. I used some papers from Sassafras the Apple Jack range and an older piece out of my scraps. The photos where matted on cardstock that I distressed around the edges and stitched down. The title is a embossed WeR Memories embossed die cut. Other elements where just scraps I had laying around which I have raised with foam dots and glamored up a bit with dimensional pearls and glitter. This was such a great way to use up these old candid shots I had laying around.

The Color Room Palette 26

Well I got this layout done in time and photographed whilst their was some sun around. Seems the sun in Sunny QLD is very far and few. This is a one of two portrait shots of my Grandma who passed away when I was 6 months old. The other photo has her holding a Piano Accordion which she played, she also played the piano. However I wonder though whether she enjoyed playing these instruments or whether it was expected of her due to the times...An answer I will probably never know.

The background cardstock was stamped using black brilliance stamp pad and a kaiser lace stamp, I then painted over with white paint. Then 2nd layer is some MME paper, 3rd matt Jenni Bowlin embossed cardstock and the some CI music paper that I also painted to tone down. I then stitched around the layout. I used Graphic 45 paper and cut the ladies out and 3d some of them. Webster papers I cut the roses and the Light post. I've done a lot of distressing. Other embellishments are MM Letter Stickers and rubons, K & Company and some other bits from my stash.

Hope you enjoy looking and it inspire you to scrap some of your heritage photos.

The Color Room Palette 25

I finally finished "The Color Room Challenge 25" and had it uploaded by Wednesday afternoon, that is a total of 2 layouts completed this week. Although I sometimes wonder why I bother. The answer to that was more about organising my time and completing more than one layout every couple of weeks, so far I have been managing 2 -3 depending on what happens in my life.

However since this is my blog, I feel that I can express my disappointment to see layouts selected that do not predominately use the colors in the Palette. You would think if you joined a sight you would bother reading the "Play Rules". Whilst I understand some artist use their artist rights and don't bother sticking to these rules, then they shouldn't obviously expect to be selected. Apparently this is not the case, do I care, not really, but it is disappointing to see so many beautiful layouts passed by and not selected when they meet the criteria better than those selected. I mean do they print of the colours, start their layout and think to themselves that the colour in the palette is not working so I will just select another. For example purple grape, how do you come to the conclusion raspberry is the same substitute. I know for me personally it takes quite a while to find the colours in the palette and yes sometimes another colour would go better, but I stick to the colours that I have been given. It would just be nice to see others do the same. What is even harder to decipher the colours is when DT member put the layouts up and the colours also are not the same as the palette, of course then others are going to think they can add whatever colour they choose. Hence the confusement.

Not too mention the trend I'm starting to see that Design Team Members also have their favourites and seem to pick these members layouts often. Don't get me wrong, Im not saying that these layouts are not worthy, however shouldn't they also have to stick to the palette, and sometimes their layouts look like the one that was selected before just a different colour. Click on their albums and see them as a whole, and you will know exactly what I'm talking about.

Anyway their rules of play states the following: "You will need to use each colour in the revealed palette (you can add base colours of white, black or kraft) to be considered for a RAK or a Spotlight Feature", and yet for some artist these rules do not apply, even the Design Team Members don't meet the criteria. I can see why members lose interest after playing along for a few months and see the same members selected. Oh well nothing new here in the scrapbooking world..

But to all those scrappers that do stick with the plan, I would like to congratulate you on your beautiful layouts.... just my thought.

Keeping Up

Okay, so trying to keep up with online challenges and updating your blog is a challenge on it own. I'm thinking their is a lot of wasted time surfing the net when you could be doing something more productive "Like Scrapping" But I also see a trend here as well. If you don't have a blog then maybe your LO's are not going to be selected.....hmmm interesting thought. Anyway moving on from that, I spend the good part of Sunday getting my page done for Color Combos Galore. This is the first time I have done any online challenges and I must say I'm really enjoying it. I've met some great ladies over there. Its nice to chat with others with the same interest. This is the page I will be uploading over there.

I have done a distressing, sewing and layering on this page. Its a photo of myself when I was about 6. The dress I was wearing is green and it was one of my favorites because of the umbrella pocket and the little white flower buttons.

Color Combos Galore 156

Well I have been busy this week, not only doing the Color Combos 156 Challenge but also the Pencils Lines Sketch as well. Janet was asked to team up with Pencil Lines Sketch and put a color combo togethor to go along with their weekly challenge in celebration of their 200th Sketch. WOW, 200, that is amazing. I started off on track, getting the CCG 156 Challenge completed in under and hour and I also completed the Pencil Lines Sketch by Sunday night, I was really quite proud of myself. Had Pencil Lines 201 Sketch printed off with the intentions of getting that one done by Sunday night when this dreaded head cold hit me. Now I am in bed, too blocked up to want to do anything. Oh well what can you do.

Figured Out

Well I finally figured out how to get rid of the new setting that blogger put in the blogs. Apparently they felt the need to put in a button to convert English into a few different languages such as Hindi. This left me baffled why every time I tried to post, even though my setting were set for English, it would convert to Hindi. Anyway finally found the problem so Im now back to posting....LOL Well that is my plan, sometimes it just seems like extra work.

YAY, the sun is out

Well Hello Sunshine, yes you've finally come out and shown you face. So much for Queenslands saying "Sunny one day, Perfect the next". I so needed you, two days ago when I had take a shot of my LO so I could get them posted. I'm guessing you will be gone again next week when I will need you for that job again.

I have been blog hopping in my spare time, not that I've had much, to see what others post on their blogs. whilst I have enjoyed reading some blogs it hasn't helped me in deciding how to organise my own. So at the moment whilst I'm still trying to figure that out I will just stick with posting my LO's that I have been doing for Color Combo Galore.

I have really been enjoying this ning site, Its great if you like playing with more color on your pages and the inspirational pictures that come with it are simply that "Inspirational". I also like how they have included a technique to use your page, for me its been good to go back and use techniques I haven't used for ages. I also had the pleasure of being asked to be Guest Member for the week, now that was interesting. Still had my Challenge to complete for that week and rather than waiting until Friday for the new weekly post I had to also get another LO ready in time for the new weekly reveal. Poor Janet who runs the whole kit and caboodle, don't ask me how, pretty much on her own, had a small hiccup with photobucket which then gave me time to get my image through to her on time. It feels a little weird not having a challenge to do now, will have to now wait until next Friday...LOL Maybe I should clean my scrapping place since I have used every available clean space up. Anyway This is both last weeks and this weeks LO's that I complete.

Color Combos Galore - 146

Well after a huge struggle with the color palette this weeek I finally finished my layout. These aren't the colors I usually work with, the biggest struggle came from the actual color misty lilac, it seems everyones interpretation of this color was different.
