PRIMA MARKETING BAP

Life just seems to be getting in the way of scrapping of late, with milestone birthdays and family visiting from interstate I've only been able to squeeze in one layout this month,  the upside to this is more photo's to eventually scrap.

I gave the PRIMA BAP a go.  Its one of those challenges I keep meaning to do but never do.   I just loved this sketch and it gave me the opportunity to use one of my favourite shapes.

I used some older Prima products for this page along as I was trying to create a soft look to go with the photo.  Behind the photo and along the side of the background paper I have used textured paste and then stamped and inked.

Flowers and the outline of the circles have been cut from Prima patterned papers.

PRIMA PRODUCT USE

Papers - Engraver Collection Ätlas", Nature Garden Collection Ësprit" & Ledger
Lyric - Wood Buttons
Packaging
Bling Flourish
Ingvild Bolme Inks
Blooms
Stamps

Other Products

Memory Box Dies
Textured Paste
MME Transparent overlay

To those that have taken the time to drop by and leave a comment, a big thank you as it's always appreciated.
I would like to say that I will be posting more regularly but unfortunately I have more guest arriving in a couple of weeks with some still already here and a health issue that I'm currently being treated for so my posts will be a little on the sparse side.

Take care and have a great remaining week!!!

Colorful Creations - Recipe Challenge

Hi Everyone

Its been a little while since my last post, however I am finally back on deck and hopefully it will stay that way, but who knows life takes you into many twists and turns some welcoming and others not so much.  Thanks to those that have still taken the time to pop in here and leave me a messages Its nice to know that your work and posts are appreciated and inspiring

As we all know in the scrapping world a new month means a new challenge and Its exciting to be back creating again.   I hope you have some time to stop by Colorful Creations and join in on the many events that we have.  Colorful Creations also has a blog now and we would love it if you come on over and follow us.

My monthly challenge is a Recipe so if you would like to check out this event and join in just follow the link here.

Part of my challenge is to use a less than perfect photos, I not the best photographer and I really don't like contrived photos for me those sort of photos don't really tell me a story.  The photo I have used here is of my DD and her boyfriend messing around in the kitchen having fun.  These are the sort of moments I want her to remember. A picture that will evoke a memory  rather than her thinking her mother was a crazed scrapbooker that I would go to no ends to get a supposed perfect shot.

I have used a few different masks along with textured paste and glimmer mist to achieve the background, I wanted something fun and quirky looking and I think I achieved that both with colour and shapes.

I have also used some torn washing tape radomly around the page along with a few odd rubons and stickers.

Product Use:

Glitz & MME Papers
Washi Tape
The Crafters Workshop & Prima Templates
Textured Paste
Glimmer Mists

Thanks for looking and for any of your comments you may leave

One of my favourite products at the moment is the Jillibean Soup placemats 12 x 12 die cuts they are great to stamp on which is what I have done on this one.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

Hi Everyone

Just a quick stop in to wish my blogger friends HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!

I have no scrapbooking to share as I have been way to busy creating memories rather than locking myself up in my craft room.  As the kids have become older they are not around as often and when they are I like to spend as much time as I can with them.
And today was one of those days.

My daughter took me to a High Tea in the city followed by an afternoon of shopping.

Yes I was a little spoilt

This was what we were served along with a glass of champagne.

And my lovely son shopped on his own this year without his sister and purchased me this lovely charm.

Followed by lovely roast dinner courtesy of my husband.
Thanks guys for such a wonderful day.

This is why I scrapbook, to preserve these moments.

Take Care xox

COLOR COMBOS GALORE - INSPIRATIONAL BOARD 241 "LOVE ALWAYS"

Well its reveal day today, or should I say yesterday.....  This time difference can throw you just a little.

The colours this week had a bit of a Christmas feel for me, however I settled on a fun picture of my daughter and one of her friends she made on a cruise a few years ago.  As I mentioned in my last post I found these pictures on her computer, I will scrap them and unbeknown to her she is going to journal them...lol

Janet and Camille did a fantastic job coming up with this weeks palette although I did struggle a little with the stone colour.  Its one of the colours that I couldn't find anything remotely close without it being to light or dark.  In the end I got out my trusty Jo Sonja paints and made a mix of Hookers Green, Paynes Grey, Nimbus Grey and some Green Oxide and whilst when it wet it looked the perfect colour yet it dried much lighter than what I was expecting.

Lesson:  Watering down said colour can cause it to dry much lighter.  And for some reason I always seem to focus on the hardest colour and spend way to much time fussing about over it, maybe the lesson should be to use a tiny little bit and tuck it away some where on my page...hmmm next time.

However I was happy with the overall page and it did push me try a colour I wouldn't normally use.

This week I used Inspirational picture 3, can you spot what the focus might have been?

This week I'm going to pass on the product list as this really was just made from scraps out of my stash.

If you do have some time this week we would love for you to come along and play at CCG.  Remember if you become and active member by submitting and commenting on others work you have the opportunity to be a Guest Designer.

Bye for now and have a great week!!!

Colorful Creations - Guest Designers Sketch

Hi Everyone, hope you have all had a wonderful week so far.

Just thought I would share with you quickly a layout that I did for over at Colorful Creations Guest Designer event.  I wanted to do a bit of a fun page for these photos I found on my daughter computer whilst snooping.  Now when I say snooping I'm just looking for photos that she doesn't want me to scrap. But being the good scrapbooker I am, I  left no file unturned and stumbled across some fun ones she and her friends had taken a few years ago whilst we were on a cruise.

Our Guest Designers Sketch

My Take

I twisted the sketch left to suit my photos.

Did quite a bit of masking, paint splattering and inking.

I'm loving the new Jillibean Soup placements they are great for stamping, inking and misting not to mention they save you from spending all that time fussy cutting.

Where did it go?

Hi Everyone,

Does everyone else like me think that the weekend just goes way to fast.

I need one day to catch up on everything,  a day to get everything ready for the upcoming week so I'm thinking another day in the middle of Saturday and Sunday would be perfect

Hmmm now just to name it and then get the rest of the world to implement it.
Okay so its not going to happen but one can dream.

Really it has been quite a hectic few months, we had flood damage a few years back and finally made a claim on our insurance this allowed us to get our floors re-tiled down stairs and I have to say it does look amazing.  Whilst we had all the furniture out I thought it would be a great idea to refresh the walls with a lick of paint and I also convinced my husband it would be great if he could build in the TV and make me one of those lovely built in entrance cupboards that I see on Pinterest.  Now I have a lovely cupboard, well it will be once it also has a lick of paint on it.  Next weekends job!!!

Whilst my hubby was busy creating in the house I was back and forwards from the house to the craft room making my creations.

Firstly I have my SYTYCS014 Challenge to share.  We were required not to use any patterned papers at all, we had to make our own textured paste which I'm sure if you couldn't access any it might be fun to do.  But after making my own I much prefer to pop the lid open from my purchased one, thats messy enough without creating more mess. We also had to include a handmade pinwheel  and washi tape and this is what I came up with.

I created my background on White Kaiser Craft cardstock using the textured paste that I made along with two crafters workshop template, one Prima mask and some shapes I punched out.

I did a bit of layering under the photo, firstly using my Grand Nestabilities Label 4 die I cut some vellum and used the negative I then used it again and cut a photo mat from another sheet of Kaiser cardstock.  This cardstock was decorated by using the templates that had been misted so as not to waste that mist that you normally would wash off.

I have also slipped a journal block behind the photo that was over layed with a little transparent frame.  This that might have been from the Lemonade range from Basic Grey.

Onto this weeks SYTYCS015. I thought the one we did a few weeks ago where we were only allowed to use purple papers and only black and white embellishments was challenging.  This weeks we have to create an accordion mini album, no purchased ones.  Only allowed to use one manufacturers range including papers and embellishments, has to be completely finished with photos and 2 pages have to be like a double page layout.  Embellishments have to be at least 50% from the range and also include some ribbon or twine.  Not a big list I know but the using one range was the hardest part since I'm one to mix and match most manufacturers and I don't often buy whole ranges.

I was lucky enough to have some small pictures left over otherwise I don't think I would have completed this in the record time that I did.

Well I'm off to have some dinner and I hope you enjoyed looking at my challenges.  Thanks always to those that take the time out to leave me comments.

Until next time

COLOR COMBOS GALORE 239 - FAIRY TALES IN PINK

Hi Everyone,

Wow can you believe we are already into week 2 of our new month of challenges, the upside though our challenges don't close until the 28th day of the month so this gives you plenty of time to work on any of the palettes.

This weeks colours a simply gorgeous so why not come on over and check them out and see what our lovely Design Team did with them, you will not be dissappointed.

Remember, we are always on the lookout for our next Featured Member, be active in our Message Boards, Reveals and Photo Gallery. Then check your inboxes this week, you could be next!

HERE IS MY SAMPLE

I used Inspiration Picture 1 and focused  "Colour Washing".  I did this by firstly using texture paste with two different masks.  I then used a couple of different shades of mists to achieve the gradients of colour,  adding a couple of big splashes of watered down paint.

Using the Crafters Workshop Template Cubist gave me the effect I was looking for tying it in with the scattering of petals on the bedroom floor.  I also used a Prima mask so that I could get the word Simply.

My glittery banners which I have used on couple pages over the past few weeks is another one I have fussy cut off a sheet of Kaiser paper.

I thought this colour combo would pretty the picture up of my DD drinking a shot of something on her 18th Birthday.  It seems do have done the trick.

Okay again a real mish mash of product here, but I will try and list what I can.

PRODUCT USED

Cafters Workshop Template - Cubist 12"
Prima - Love Mask & Fairytale roses & Pearls

Websters - Lets Celebrate
October Afternoon - Cake Walk
Kaiser - "Save the Date" Penna speciality paper
Glitz - Peek a boo's

Well I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and if you didn't get to create hopefully you will get time during the week.  Thank you to those that took the time out to comment on my last post, I really do appreciate it and look forward them.

Bye for now

Color Combos Galore - Inspirational Board 238

Hi Everyone,

Easter has come and gone, I loved the 4 day break and hope all my friends out there had a wonderful break.  I also hope you were able to seize the moment and create new memories with your family.

We've also entered a new month and as a crafter we also know this means loads of new challenges.  Color Combos Galore's new inspirational board is named perfectly this week, Orange Crush.

We we would love you to come on over to CCG and check out what the Designers pulled together for this one and I'm sure you will be thoroughly inspired!!!

Don't forget to like us on Facebook

ALWAYS HAPPY

I used a real mix of papers on this one, come to think of it most of my pages are done with a complete mish mash of papers I don't generally favour working with one particular companies collection.  I did start out with  a stack of new papers and then decided before I started cutting that I should go through my stash of scraps and see if I could use any.  I'm proud to say I only cut into one new sheet.

Washi tape was used both top and bottom of the page and I punched out vellum hearts using my Matha Stewarts punch and glued them where they landed.

I used inspirational picture three focusing on Canvas. I used a resist canvas ornate key and the heart locket that has been placed behind the vellum polaroid frame that I made.

Product used
Websters - Sunday Picnic
Prima - Song Bird & Divine Collections
Sassafrasslass - "Life is Beautiful" Piccadilly
Crate Paper - "Restoration Collection" Doilies
Pink Paislee - "Spring Jubilee" Shindig
Kaiser - Mask
Washi Tape - Prima and unknown
Prima blooms
Memory Box diecut
Prima resist canvas pieces
Tattered Angels

Thanks for stopping by and big THANK YOU to those that take the time out to leave your lovely comments.  Enjoy the new month and I look forward to stopping by your blog and checking out your creations!!!

Happy Friday Everyone

I just love Friday's, its like the week has finally come to an end and you can just kick back and relax.  Although I'm not really sure that ever happens but one can try.

I will try and make this post short and sweet, I just wanted to share with you my layout I did for over at Colorful Creations "So You Think You Can Scrap" Challenge we have going.

We are now going into week 12 so I'm looking forward to seeing what our next challenge will be when it goes up tomorrow.  In the meantime this was Challenge #11

Each week the challenge seems to get a little harder.  Mostly because they require more than 2 photos and I simply don't have that many and the limitations of product use can be very challenging when your used to using what ever you like.  Of course you can bend the rules or should I say exert your artistic rights, however if you don't want to be eliminated then the challenge is then to stick to the rules.

I KNOW, I KNOW, RULES IN SCRAPBOOKING!!!

Occasionally yes there are and for some and this is one challenge site that does stand by the guidelines set, which then challenges you to step out of your comfort zone and maybe make you pull back a little when it comes to product use and challenge you that little more by creating something that is visually pleasing to the eye.  So maybe these pages are not all arty and loaded with product but I am enjoying the challenge and its been great to use photos that probably wouldn't have normally been used.

MUST USE EVERYTHING LISTED BELOW:

4 Photos (can be colored or b&w)  - done
Black & White ONLY - done
Quilling - little arrow heads on the string from the hot air balloon
Masking - dusty attic chipboard
Paint - black paint on the hot air balloon
Swirls - doodled using a Crafters workshop template
6 Brads - little black ones right hand side
Handwritten Journaling - done
Make your own layered 3d embellishment - stamped a hot air balloon image and layered it on top of the chippie
stay true to the sketch - done

HERE IS MY TAKE

I decided if I had to use black and white only I would try and incorporate some colour with my photos.  Bare in mind my kids were not born in the digital era so photos are not dime a dozen. I was fortunate enough to have my sister in law snap happy with her camera when we visited in 2006 so these photos worked beautifully.

I was really happy with the overall finish of this page even though its on the simpler side of scrapbooking for me.

If you would like to see what the other 20 members did for this we would love for you to pop on over to Colorful Creations and check them out.

Thank you to all that stopped by recently and left me your wonderful comments on my previous post its always a joy to know others appreciate your work.

Bye for now
